IMG_6534Happy taco Tuesday, or as I’m calling it, tequila Tuesday! These spicy jalapeño margaritas would perfectly compliment your carne asada tacos or burrito. Cheers!

I know I’m late to post this festive Fourth of July cocktail, but the drink would be delicious any time of the year! The strawberry and blueberry ice cubes bring an otherwise boring and colorless drink to life. If you’re not a strawberry or blueberry fan, you can of course replace them with raspberries, blackberries, grapes, etc.

This past weekend revolved around food–particularly yesterday. On top of making these delicious and unique tostadas, I made spicy queso dip (with my new cast iron skillet!), and jalapeño margaritas. I’ll post both recipes soon. Back to the tostadas, though. The tostadas were beyond flavorful and spicy! I have a relatively low spice tolerance, so I added extra sour cream to calm the burn. :)

DSC_0060-LVeeV Spirits contacted me a couple months ago asking if I’d be interested in creating a dish to pair with one of their seasonal cocktails. I gladly accepted the offer, and chose to work with the VeeV Fruit Cup Sangria. The cocktail was sweet and delicious, and paired wonderfully with my slightly spicy grilled eggplant stacks. Both the cocktail and eggplant stacks are making an appearance at our Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow!

VeeV is featuring my recipe on their Facebook page today…check it out here!

Have I mentioned how much I love pumpkin? Yeah, probably. I love it even more when paired with cream cheese frosting. So, these whoopie pies are right up my alley. The cakes are fluffy and full of flavor, with a slight kick from the bourbon in the filling. Bring these pies to a fall dinner party or Thanksgiving dinner and they’re sure to be a hit.

Last weekend, I got to see my brother marry his girlfriend of seven years and love of his life, Vanya. The wedding was absolutely gorgeous and a day they will never forget. It was so nice to spend the weekend with family from Ohio that we haven’t seen in years.

This chicken dish was always a favorite of mine growing up, but for some reason, I’d never made it myself. The dish is simple to prepare, and full of flavor. The white wine cream sauce is heavenly…I tell ya, heavenly!

Happy Valentine’s Day! I hope everyone had or is having a wonderful day, filled with lots of love, chocolate and wine.

I plan on spending my night cooking a homemade meal with my roommate, then curling up on the couch with a cocktail or two. After the craziness of Grammy week, nothing sounds more appealing than my night ahead. :)

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I’m still recovering from all the turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes, dessert and copious amounts of wine. I’m honestly not sure how we were able to eat this decadent dessert after dinner, but who turns down a cake with bourbon as one of its primary flavors? Not me. Needless to say, this dessert is definitely making another appearance soon.

I meant to mention this last week, but my brother, Matt, just got engaged to his girlfriend, Vanya, of six years. I’m so incredibly happy for them and am looking forward to all that comes next!

Since having dental surgery last week, my diet has consisted of frozen yogurt and soup. But one can only eat ice cream and Ramen noodles for so long. So, after a few days of recovering, I decided it was time to get back in the kitchen and make soup that I would actually enjoy. This gourmet tomato soup with lemon arugula pesto sure did the trick. I’d never made arugula pesto before, and I’ve got to say, I might even prefer it to basil pesto!
